Heart on my pillow

Today was just another day at work. It went well except I ate everything in sight. I just can’t get it together. yet I still have this cycle.

Eat bad. guilt. exercise. eat better. sleep better. eat bad again. (WHY!!!!)

ANYWHOOOOO moving on to happy news!

I came home to find this cut out heart from Andrew on my pillow. He is the best six year old!

I also saw this on FB and thought it was appropriate.

Question for you:

How did you spend your Monday?

I’m looking forward to Tuesday night…..date night!

LOVE or HATE Valentine’s day?

It’s time to finally fix the bathroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WAHOOOOOOO

Unfortuantly. I now have a hole in my kitchen wall to get TO the bathroom pipes. Hey. Those walls were up for a least six months haha.

(my dad has on his camo hat. Don’t judge. haha)

My dad and younger brother worked for about 5 hours and we are almost done! I also got to visit my favorite home away from home…..Home Depot haha. It looks like they will have to work tomorrow and then we can use the pink powder room again haha

(rewind to last night)

Last nights trivia, was a HUGE hit. Along w/ the cookies.

On to more important info. I hate text messaging (ok. no i love it) BUTTTTTTT it makes for the WORST conversation when you are trying to have some sort of communication with a new guy. Chris and I are having this problem.

I have had problems before. With friends. Ex boyfriends. Even my family. We all are sending a message, meaning ONE thing, and they take it in a totaly different way. What happened to calling people anymore??????

Oh well. We’re working on. Trust me. You won’t die if you pick up the phone and DIAL it hahaha

Question for you:

Ever had miscommunication due to text message, email, or facebook?

-It is really hard to communicate sarcasm, love, hate, angry, etc. on these forms. Sometimes you could meaning to be sarcastic and someone thinks you hate them. Or you are trying to be all lovey dobey and someone thinks your sarcastic. ITS NEVER GOOD.

Any Advice on communication issues in general? Like all you lovely married folks! haha You guys know the secret!

past few days + new recipe!

Hey everyone! I hope you are having a good weekend!

The past few days I have been relying on these

but so far today I have only taken day quill once 🙂 haha so I feel good. I actually slept much better too!

The day started w/ Andrew’s soccer game at 8AM!!!!!!!! I mean WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA! haha.

Then I headed to the gym. I haven’t been there all week (don’t judge me!) I actually felt great, and I ran and lifted more than last week. Iguess my body just needed a break!

Tonight, I am going to trivia night at my old highschool. I made cookies. These are NOT healthy, except for maybe the eggs. And oats. Yep. thats it haha. BUT I got to use my mixer for the first time!

servings 36

  •  2 sticks butter softened
  • 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1 1/2 c brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1tbsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c flour ( I added a 1/2 c more)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c oats
  • 1/2 cup M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (or whatever you want)

-Preheat oven to 375

– Cream butter w/ sugar until fluffy.

– Add eggs one at a time then vanilla and beat

– Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to mixing bowl and mix.

-Add remaining ingredients. (add more M&Ms and chips if you want. I did!)

-Scoop into balls of dough on cookie sheet and bake until brown (about 6 min)

(this recipe was taken from The Pioneer Woman Cooks. I made some modifications.)

Cafeteria lady

Yesterday, I was the cafeteria lady at Andrew’s school. He is in first grade, so I really don’t get a whole lot out of him about what happens to school. So I  make sure to read during his library time and sign up at cafeteria duty.

NOOO I am not the lady handing out the food.Basically, I just walk around, talk to the kids, help them open anything, and then wipe the tables down.

It was actually really cool to see all the kids. Andrew goes to a Catholic gradeschool w/ grades K-8. And they eat in shifts. The first being K-2. And these are some of the things I noticed.

  • K-2 is the loudest, messiest, and are always moving around the cafeteria
  • 3-5 are the most akward but not as loud
  • 6-8 were all very calm (maybe they just are use to the rules). And I didn’t have to open anything for them haha
  • Its AMAZINNNNGGG to see the difference between the K-2 and 6-8. they are SOOO tall (I can’t believe Andrew will be in 8th grade someday!)
  • ALLLL the 8th grade girls had headbands w/ their ponytails breaded to the side. Each. One. Of them.
  • I only heard one person getting made fun of, and a girl sitting by herself. It made me very sad 😦 I made sure to talk to her
  • The K-2 girls and boys talked to eachother A WHOLE LOT MORE than the two other groups
  • There were also 10x as many lunchables in the first group haha
  • In the older grades, the boys are allowed to wear khakis. And each one had khakis (they have an option to wear blue pants too, but no one was)
  • I noticed that a lot of kids didn’t waste their food. They either ate it, or put it bag in their bag to bring home.
  • What I was happy to see: Everyone seem to have some fruit/veggie in their lunch. Most common were oranges, apples, and bananas
  • Another thing I liked: We washed the tables after each group. (you guys know how I like things clean!)
  • The bad thing: The kids only had about 20 minutes to eat. But then I realized, the kids were done after 10-15 and were ready to get moving to recess. (I couldn’t eat that fast. I would get a tummy ache)

I loved seeing all the kids. I remember my gradeschool, where I had a blast. Not that it was all fun. I was made fun of in 5th grade for having a bigger lower lip. To my advantage, two years later all the stars were getting lip injections haha

I also had a problem w/ not rolling my skirt (which had to be a certain length above the knee)  and wearing my sweatshirt around my waist (which was against the rules)

Question for you:

What do you remember from gradeschool?

2 sick puppies + new date (UPDATE!)

A few days ago, I talked about Andrew and I being sick and my new date! And I wanted to update you guy!

Even though I was sick, and not feeling the best, I still went out w/ Chris. I started getting ready around 5, took Andrew to my parents at 6, and then back to my house to wait. Around 6:15, I started to get nervous!! He was coming to pick me, since I know the family that he comes from, I felt ok w/ him knowing where I lived.

At 6:30, there was a knock at the door- EEEEKKKK!

I grabbed my purse, and welcomed him at the door (he is cute!)

We then got in his truck (he didn’t open the door…) and headed to the restaurant.

The conversation was flowing. I never felt akward. We were laughing and just have a good time. At dinner, we sat across from each other. I hate this, but w/ Chris it wasn’t weird.

We had some AMAZING food. It was almost like a 5 course meal!

First, we had spinach artichoke dip (he picked. And I was like YES he likes that too. Haha you guys know how much I love it)

Next, we had salads. I stuck w/ Caesar

My main meal:

Chicken Carbonara

Grilled chicken, applewood-smoked bacon, peas and rigatoni in aged

Wisconsin Parmesan, basil and oregano cream sauce

It was AMAZING. Next time I wouldn’t want the bacon. Of course, it wasn’t healthy. But I needed to eat something, this was the most I ate all day! I was so stuffed, I only ate about 1/3 of the chicken carbonara

For dessert, we each got a mini treat. I choose a cookies and cream dessert

Ok. Anyway. You guys don’t care about the food haha.

There was SOOO much laughter. I totally forgot I was sick!

We left the restaurant after two hours there! And we headed for my house.

This time when we got to the car he opened the door for me. (later in the car he said, “OHHHH! I forgot to open then door when I picked you up at your house.” hahaha.

When we got back at my place, I asked if he wanted to come in and watch the hockey game. DON’T GET ANY IDEAS. I am NOT that kind of lady.

We ended up just talking, watching tv, and yes we kissed.

He said goodnight and headed home.

The next day, I walked into work, w/ a smile on my face. It actually shocked me a bit. I was like why am I smiling?? Haha someone is going to think I’m crazy haha

Chris and I don’t have a date set just yet, but there is talk of one (maybe even dancing J haha)

Question for you:

What is your favorite restaurant?

Do you ever find yourself smiling like an idiot? Haha

-I always do

The Hunger Games

Soooo I have decided to listen to everyone and their brother! And read the HungerGames.

I had first heard about these books from other blogs (healthytipping point, peanut butter fingers, fannetastic food) and I have only heard amazing things. But I never actually picked up the book, until I saw the trailer.

Then I was hooked.

Yesterday, I got an email from the library saying it was in! and ready for me to pick up!

UPDATE: I wrote this post a few days ago. Finished the first one in 24 hours. Just bought the second one, Catching Fire. haha

Question for you:

I think I need to put my name down for the next one, what is the title? Does anyone know?

Have you read the Hunger Games?

What are you reading right now?

2 sick puppies + new date

This morning, I am typing to all of you on my comfy couch, under a blanket, with my favorite cup of coffee…..

can you spot the legos? haha they are everywhere!

Andrew is home from school sick, and I’m right there with him. Yep. Two sick little ducks at home. I even got him a hot chocolate (i hope he doesn’t get addicted to starbucks like me haha)

On friday, I took Andrew to the doctor for a strep test (I knew he had it. They didn’t think so. His rapid came back negative. WELLLLLL yesterday, I get a call and his 72hr test comes back positive (I have to say it, I told you so haha)

So. He’s on antibiotics (and can’t go to school till he has 24hrs of antibiotics) Im on dayquil. It’s a mess. Please stay away from St Louis, because apparently, this is all going around haha (jk. Im sure everyone is getting sick-I’m just a baby)

The bad news is, tonight I have a date. OHHHH brother. this should be interesting.

All of you know that I have been on match.com since this summer. Well, it’s not working for me anymore.

I actually started investigating the group Events and Adventures. Which is a group for single adults 21-?. They have about 21 locations over the United States, and there is one right here in St Louis!

I called to get information. Apparently, they have 40 or so events planned each month. Which can include: dinner, movie, hiking, bike riding, sky diving (EEK!), and they even are taking a trip to paris next month! I was so excited about trying this out, but I needed to see how much it would cost…..

Well, they wouldn’t tell me on the phone (AHHH WHAT??) So the meeting I had on Saturday, was to meet w/ someone from the group (they want to make sure you aren’t crazy or have history of violence).

The meeting went OKKKKKK. They lady was kindof annoying. She kept repeating herself about how great the group was, how they aren’t a dating group (but they’ve had 4 marriages the past year…), and then lectured me for 10 min on how online dating was bad for me and my son. (um. thanks mom.)

Even though the lady wasn’t my BFF, I still looked at the prices. Lets just say my jaw dropped. Unfortuantly, my wallet and I had to walk away from this deal. Although, it seems like an AMAZING group w/ lots to do. I just couldn’t afford it.

My next thought, is to try the St Louis Triathlon Club. But I still need to get info, so more info to come…….

Anyway. Back on track to my date. I am actually going on a blind date. My friend Beth, who I work w/ in the NICU, is setting me up with her brother in law.

So. Let’s give some info on him haha

  • He lives in Illinois, but works in St Louis
  • He works in some sort of construction thing. (ill have to get more info tonight haha)
  • He is from IL
  • He has a house just across the river, and a farm. (my family has a farm as well)
  • I was actually in a wedding w/ his sister.
  • He is 34. (this is the only thing I’m worried about. He is 9 yrs. older than me)
  • He seems very sweet, but also has my sarcasm
  • He actually dated someone before w/ a kid, so I believe we are good in that department haha

anything else you guys want to know, and Ill ask on my date haha

I will let you guys know how it goes! Hopefully, I still be the happy and sarcastic Kristen I know, and not the sick and I look like I’m going to die, kindof Kristen. haha

(sorry for the long post. Obviously, sick to me, doesn’t mean speechless. haha

Question for you:

When was your last date? What did you do? (and yes. this counts for the married folk too!)

long lost michigan pictures

remember how I lost my camera in michigan, was sad about it, and then found it the same day my parents bought me a new one?? haha.

Well here are a few of those pictures. We went to Michigan in August 2011. It was awesome

One of my favorite nights, was having mexican. It was the kids night to cook.

And there was plenty of Coronas to go around

We also got Andrew to dress up! Isn’t he cute!

The next day, My dad and I also took Andrew on a bike ride.

Andrew MIGHT have stolen my camera during the ride

I might need to put this one of the frig so I stay away from the food (I have a booty. Its all good haha)

We also had dinner out w/ the family.

This is Andrew with his godmother Jill ( also my cousin and friend since I was born. she is five months older)

They were trying to be a two headed monster. pretty good right?!?! haha

well I think that wraps up michigan now haha. Im so glad I have my camera back!

Question for you:

Do you like mexican? Whats your favorite Mexican food?

Fixing a few things

After working the past three days (and a rough three days at that. and im not talking about the sugar), I woke up and took Andrew to school. And then it was back to bed for me. I needed it. And it was awesome!!! Im glad I did, considering what was to come….

Then it was time to hit the gym. I ran 30 minutes and then hit the weights. While lifting, I got hit on by an older gentleman. And by older I mean about 50.
I thought man. If the younger men talked to me as much as the older, I wouldn’t be single haha.

After lifting, I noticed something wasn’t right

It is the ring my mom gave me when we went to Ireland last year.

I guess I was lifting harder than I thought haha. Nothing my little pliers couldn’t fix.

I then tried a new recipe. W/ coconut flour.

They didn’t turn out. I don’t think Andrew and I will ever like something w/ coconut flour. We must try almond flour- I wonder if trader joe’s has it?

Around noon, I got a call from Andrew’s school. He was running a fever and his throat hurts 😦

PLEAASSE no more strep throat! Weren’t we just at the doctor?!!? Oh yes. We were!

Verdict: no strep. Just sore throat. No fever.

Soooo Andrew and I had a night in of pizza. (I made it flat this time)

Can you guess which side was mine?? haha. and left overs for tomorrow!

Then ice cream while we watched the Dolphin Tail. It was actually really cute.

It is also my friend’s birthday- so we made this video for her!

(still don’t know why wordpress wont let me post the video on here)

Question for you:

How was your Friday?

Have you ever tried coconut, almond, or peanut flour?

-I LOVVVEEE peanut flour
