New kicks

I talked a week ago about how my shoes were possibly causing my knee/ankle issue. So this morning I headed to the gym, with some new old kicks.

These were the shoes I ran in BEFORE I switched to reebox reflex (oh how I miss them)

I was going to go to yoga, then I thought, I need to get out of my comfort zone. I need to start kicking boot, and I do that when I did interval training.

WEEK ONE

Annie wasn’t able to join me, and I also work out harder with her, but she wasn’t able to join in on the fun. I still got a great workout in, my legs were shaking by the end! And my knee only bothered me once!

Question for you:

How did you get your sweat on today?

Paleo Banana Bread

Week Two: Skinny Jeans

No, this week I will NOT be wearing skinny jeans. But after kicking booty last week, I am feeling great. I even had my neighbor say how I’m losing weight. Which was really sweet.

The only thing is, the scale isn’t showing any weight lose. BUT my clothes are fitting better!! wahoO!

Today, I needed some down time. Work this past weekend, was extremely stressful. Yoga was on the schedule!

I have a dilemma for the week, I work Tuesday and Wednesday, and then I am heading out of town on Friday morning. So how do I get my  workouts in?

Question for you:

What workouts do you have plan for this week?

Do you have a goal for the week?

Thanksgiving 2012

I hope everyone had an AMAZING Thanksgiving!

(rewind to Thursday morning)

The day started with a trip to the gym. That’s right, I made it the past 4 days- WAHOOO!

I choose to do the muscle works class again, instead of yoga. (I needed to sweat)

Then it was running around for my mom, since it was at my parents house.

Finally at 11, it was time to eat breakfast, and relax with Andrew. We watched the parade (I recorded while I was working out) Did anyone else think the lip singing/music was way off and soft?

Around 3, we packed up and headed BACK to my parents’ house. I was on sweet potato duty.

I borrowed a pretty awesome apron  to wear 😉

Then it was time to eat!

Turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, raisin dressing, cranberries, cucumbers, and veggies

Desserts! Yep we had 6 pies, and 2 we never got out! I guess everyone brought pies this year haha

The after dinner party:

The boys acting goofy. Yep. That’s Andrew ON TOP of the car

I hope everyone had a great day!

Question for you:

What did you do for Thanksgiving?

Did you go Black Friday shopping?

Change of schedule

Today, I decided to reschedule my workout. After two hardcore workouts on Monday and Tuesday, my body was a wee bit sore. I decided an afternoon with Andrew was what I needed.

First, the morning started with two ingredient pancake from CarrotsnCake. (here are the secrets to the perfect one. SHHH)

I top mine with almond butter. YUM!

I had to rush, because my mom is having Thanksgiving and is now in a bit of back pain. So its me to the rescue! haha.

We made three pies, the green beans, and the cucumbers all before noon. Not too shabby

Andrew was off school at 12:30, so instead of a workout. We played basketball out in the alley.

Now, I didn’t get all crazy and sweaty like I would at the gym, but we got outside in the beautiful weather.

Here is the new schedule:

Tuesday: 9:00 Muscle works

Wednesday: 9:30 Drills to make you sweat basketball

Thursday: 10:00 YOGA! Muscle works at 9 or Yoga at 10.

Friday: 8:30 Butts and Guts

Saturday and Sunday: Rest days I work :(

And  my calories for the day:

CALORIES CARBS FAT PROTEIN
Totals: 1,772 167 92 31

MUCH better than a few days ago. I’ll take it!

Question for you:

Do you get together with family or friends on the night before Thanksgiving?

-I know here in St Louis, it is very common to get together with friends the night before. In a few hours, I will be all dressed up to meet up with college friends.

If the shoe fits

During the Rock n Roll half marathon, my knee and ankle were giving me LOTS of trouble. I had to walk the last 6 miles. Then I tried again just for three miles. And it didn’t hurt at first, but 2 miles in. There it was again, the pain.

The location is right below my knee cap, and then on the inside of my ankle and down the side of my foot.

(obviously! not my leg haha)

Today, I was talking to my friend Jill, who has her doctorate in physical therapy, and when I mentioned pain while running, she had me sitting, standing, walking, and running all over the house. haha.

She wanted to see if I was over rotating, or maybe she was trying to make me look goofy.

Either way, she thinks it is because of my shoes.  Because of my tendon elasticity (double jointed), I have an increased risk of straining or pulling something. But I love my shoes! The Reebox Reflex are amazing! And I only got them a year ago!

Well apparently they don’t have much arch support (this I knew) and I might be rotating my knee inward, which is causing strain on my knee and ankle. She said the most likely cause of knee and ankle pain can most likely be your shoes.

Darn.

I guess I will try a run without my Reebox 😦

She also gave me some exercises to try to strengthen my legs. (they are weak popsicle sticks! haha)

Question for you:

What type of you shoes do you love?

Do you have to have “special” shoes for your runs?

Day 1: smaller pants

Well, I accomplished two of my three goals.

#1 Get to the gym!

20 min on the stationary bike for 5 miles

10 min on the elliptical

30 min of weights

#2 Chart food

Fail. I didn’t do this, but I will work on it.

UPDATE:

-Just figured out the ugly numbers thanks to sparkpeople

CALORIES CARBS FAT PROTEIN
Totals: 2106 227 87 116
Your Daily Goal: 1,200 – 1,550 163 – 236 32 – 56 60 – 127
Remaining Today: 0 0 – 9 0 0 – 11

#3 Get off the computer!

After Andrew got off school, we got a new game, BATTLESHIP. We had a blast! We were almost late to boyscouts.

Plan for this week:

Tuesday: 9:00 Muscle works

Wednesday: 9:30 Drills to make you sweat

Thursday: 10:00 YOGA!

Friday: 8:30 Butts and Guts

Saturday and Sunday: Rest days I work 😦

So I have a plan for the workouts, now I just need to get the food in check.  Luckily, it wasn’t hard to unplug from the computer. I need to start spending more quality time with Andrew. He is getting so big so fast!

Question for you:

What is one of your favorite snacks?

I have trouble getting in veggies, how do you usually get your daily veggies in?
