Ridiculous bump in the road

I have an issue.

Today, I was doing so great with keeping my carbs low. According to sparkpeople, the only carbs I had (before dinner) included a banana and peppers for breakfast, and meatballs for lunch.

Then dinner happened. I went out to a family favorite and ordered the buffalo chicken salad

What I FORGOT to say, was I wanted GRILLED chicken, not breaded. darn it.

So when the plate arrived, I was in a bit of a pickle. Well I ate it, mostly the salad and sent the leftovers home to my dad.

I felt bad, even beating myself over it. Then I realized I can’t ALWAYS be perfect. There are going to be times when I can’t control what is at a party, friend outing, etc. And compared to the troubles of life, this is NOOOO big deal (I was being silly)

Paleo Recipes and Dance Walk

I was looking for recipes for my picky kiddo. Luckily, Tiffany has some great places to look! French Toast Casserole

Civilized Caveman made a Pumpkin Spice Latte (kindof like this one)

Angela also has this great microwave egg omlet. I feel minutes and breakfast is ready!

I need to go get chicken wings ASAP! This recipe doesn’t use a deep fryer

Week Two & raw cookie dough

After a few bumps this week, with all the candy/cookies/junk at work, I was able to come out untouched WAHOO!!!

Weigh in:

  • Week 1: lost 1 lb
  • Week 2: lost 1 lb!!!!!
  • Total: 2lbs

Even though it is only 2lbs, I have been feeling so good (still tired) but not so flabby (if you know what I mean)

Tonight as a celebration, I needed something sweet. I really really wanted to get ice cream or head out to get something. But I knew I could mix something up, and this recipe is super easy! (I found the recipe here, but I did change it a bit)

Raw Cookie Dough

Ingredients:

-3/4 c almond flour

-1tbsp coconut flour

-2 tbsp butter

-1 tbsp vanilla

-1 tbsp agave nectar

Chocolate chips

Directions:

Mix all ingredients and then roll together. ENJOY!

After working five 12 hour shifts, it is time for a break! I am now off till Monday WAHOOOOOO.

When I headed to the grocery store last week, I basically just hung out the veggies, fruit, and meat. So I grabbed them to see what I could make.

Now I just let them sit. So I need your help. What should I make?

I found a few recipes:

-OMGpaleo had pineapple guacamole w/ sweet potato chips

Chocolate pudding ????? with avocados….

ModernSkillet has a great chocolate smoothie

-I would definitely try this avocado bacon salad

5Am Ten Minute Workout

Recently, I have been trying to find ways to squeeze in workouts here and there. I actually found this one on men’s health

10 Minute Fat Blaster

Perform this circuit without rest between exercises. Then rest 1 minute and repeat the circuit. Do as many circuits as you can in 10 minutes. Click here for a video demonstration of the workout.

Jumping Jack
Start with your feet hip-width apart and hands at your sides. Simultaneously raise your arms above your head and jump so you can spread your feet shoulder-width apart. Then jump again to lower your arms and bring your feet together. Do 20 reps.

 

Prisoner Squat
Stand with your hands behind your head, your chest out and your elbows back. Sit back at your hips and bend your knees to lower your body as far as possible without losing the natural arch of your spine. Squeeze your glutes and push yourself back up to the starting position. Do 12 reps.

 

Pushup
Assume the classic pushup position: legs straight, hands beneath your shoulders. Now brace your abs. Keeping your body rigid, lower yourself until your chest touches the floor. Then push back up until your arms are extended. Do 15 reps.

 

Forward Lunge
From a standing position, take a large step forward with one leg. When your front thigh is parallel to the floor and your back knee is off the floor, hold for 1 second. Then return to the starting position and repeat with your other leg. Do 12 reps with each leg. (Make it harder by holding the lowered position for 5 seconds.)

 

Stickups
Stand with your back to the wall and feet about 4 inches from the wall. Place the back of your arms against the wall, with upper arms parallel to floor and forearms at 90 degrees. Raise your arms overhead while keeping them against the wall at all times. Slowly return to below the starting position, tucking your elbows into your sides and bringing shoulder blades together. Do 10 reps.

yep. men’s health. I can keep up with the fellas!

I was sweated after completing this AND I woke up so I could tackle my 12 hour shift! (you don’t have to do this workout at 5am, that is just what time I get up before work haha)

I also am big on workout DVDs when you just don’t want to leave the house, or the weather is too cold/too hot. But I can’t do them very often or I get bored. My favorite is my yoga DVD

 9 months later, I am finally within the norm (low value) for my vitamin D!!! WAHOOO!!!

Last April, I started out slow, tired, and no explanation as to why. I had my labs drawn and WOW a 14, when the normal LOW is 30

After 5 weeks, I was already feeling better. I had my labs drawn three months later and it was 26, still low but at least going in the right direction

I have had my levels drawn three times since April, and it is now 35!!! The doctor told me to keep taking the vitamin D and get it checked (again) in three months.

Over all I have more energy than last year at this time, and I can tell a difference. Although that is true, I feel that I’m not back to “normal” yet. So I will just keep trucking along!
