Weekly workout

This week was a MILLION times better than the past two weeks. I guess I just found my motivation again. I also have been taking more time for myself, still helping others in my family and hanging out with Andrew, but taking time for me.

Also, if I know I am going to have a crazy day, I plan it so I can make it to the gym FIRST THING, so that I don’t get home after running around St Louis, and make every excuse in the book NOT to go. So far that seems to be working. Also, getting out there and being active with Andrew has been a great help, my house looks like a bunch of 8 year olds went through it (ohhh wait. that did happen haha) But Oh well. Someone told me, that he will remember all the fun we had, not whether or not the house was picked up 🙂quotes2(source)

Sunday: Small bike ride and tennis with Andrew

Monday: rest (does 12 hrs running around the NICU count?)

Tuesday: Workout class at the gym (arms again. I think they may fall off)

Wednesday: 20 min elliptical + favorite leg workout

Thursday: rest (12 hr shift)

Friday: 20 min elliptical, Angela’s total body circuit workout +  2.5 mile bike ride with Andrew

Saturday: 30 min elliptical (after 12 hr shift)

Question for you:

What is one workout you had this week?

What are you proud of this week?

Going through a change

This weeks grocery trip was filled with some necessities and some randoms. Lately, I have been eating very “clean” or paleo which ever way you would like to put it. Lucky for me, I have a great friend who is helping me along the way, and also giving help just in general. I tell you it makes a HUGE difference to have someone standing next to you along the way.

I started eating better for a number of reasons. First, my stomach was killing me, so much so that I was seeing a doctor about it. Each morning I would wake up, and for about an hour I would have many cramps and pains.

Another reason, was my mood swings. I know that my family and friends can confirm (of course when I’m not around haha) that one minute I will be fine, and the next I am a MOODY son of a…. well you know.

I also want to lose weight. Many of you are not new to my blogs, in that I have been trying to get rid of this weight for some time. I was weighing myself each day, and then beating myself up when it didn’t say I lose enough. (that has officially ended by the way) But I know for myself, that if I eat carbs or sweets, I don’t stop at one cookie. I eat the whole pan. Once I was able to get control of what I ate, I still had the other reactions to the food, and realized. I don’t want to be in pain. Or be a crabby patty any more!

I was beginning to see a pattern. When I ate carbs and sugar, the next day I was a snobby, cranky, lazy, (and in pain) lady to be  around.  And I was sick of it.

I have been following this plan for a few weeks, and I tell you it is EASY! I just have to plan ahead, that is still the part I am working on. For work, I make sure the night before I have morning glory muffins, and leftovers from the dinner the night before.

My main goal is to live a healthy life (and get some of this weight off!) and to get Andrew on board. It is actually really cool that when he eats here it is pretty decent, but when he spends the night at his dad’s or even my parents, he will come home the next day and he says his stomach hurts because he didn’t eat good food! I wish I would have started to make the connection at 8! (although we have been talking about making good food choices)

I am not here to change how others are eating, or telling everyone to eat “clean”. My goal is just to share in my transformation!

Question for you:

Have you ever gone through a transformation, or change that you are proud of?

What I Ate Wednesday

With grocery shopping out of the way this week, I had lots of options

Of course, breakfast was my all time favorite: Protein Banana Pancake

P1080148(basically: one banana, 2 eggs, 1 scoop protein powder, cinnamon, and baking powder. top with almond PB and left over banana)

But for the first time I tried coffee with coconut milk.

I had the vanilla cups for my keurig, so I just wanted to use them up. COnsidering the amount of sugar I can only IMAGINE I drink at Starbucks, I am considering this a success. And the coconut milk was pretty yummy!

Next up for lunch, was meatloaf, cucumbers, and a peach.

Of course for dessert I had two blueberry muffins.

Predinner I had a about a million few cashews, so I wasn’t too hungry. So I just had some baked chicken wings.

I also grilled some steak and sweat potatoes to have ready for when I work in the next few days.

Gotta be prepared!

Question for you:

How do you like your coffee?

-I could really go for a pumpkin spiced latte right about now 🙂

Feeling back to normal

I finally feel like I am getting back to myself! After a rough week or so, I finally got my bearings. After some good workouts and getting some MUCH needed sleep, I feel a BILLION times better. Today was no exception! I woke up and got the grocery shopping done.

Check out the sugar in these raisins!!!! GEEZ!

I headed to the gym for my favorite class, and was greatly anxious that the focus was on arms. After the arm workout a few days ago and this class, I swore they were going to fall off! haha Home for a quick wardrobe change

I then picked up Andrew who is riding his bike around like a pro 🙂

I then ended the night going through my recipe book.

I save many recipes, but never get to them, or forget about them. I mean who wants to look through that book! Cleaning it out of “junk” is defiantly needed. Most of these recipes are weight watchers or “healthy-ish” haha. I need to revamp.

Question for you:
Where do you keep all your recipes? in a book? on your phone?

Weekly workouts

Well sorry for being a day late, but this weekend was so nice and relaxing with Andrew, so the last thing I wanted to do was blog. It was nice to take a break away. After a difficult weekend at work, the past weekend was a HUGE blessing.

Even though the week was rough to start, I finally found my groove back into the gym. Let me tell you, after Friday and Saturdays workout, I was finding it hard to lift my arms or sit haha

Sunday: rest

Monday: 45 min elliptical, 15 min bike, and then a 4mile bike ride with Andrew

Tuesday: rest

Wednesday: 30 min elliptical after 12 hours

Thursday: rest

Friday: 15 min bike at the gym then this awesome leg workout

Saturday: 25 min elliptical and this amazing arm workout. Then a 6 mile bike ride with the family. I pulled my nephew on Saturday and my legs were on fire from Fridays workout and pulling over 50lbs haha

Question for you:

What is your favorite body area to workout?

-I would say my arms, least favorite LEGS!

A day of babies

This past week has put a large strain on my shoulders, I have been trying to stay positive, but each day is a new challenge. I am just going to take one day at a time. Today, I was lucky enough to see THREE babies! (yep. I might be a baby hog)

This is a conversation I had with Andrew tonight about seeing Toby (a previous NICU baby) and Seamus and Fiona (my neice and nephew)

“Guess who I saw tonight?” me
“who?” Andrew
“Seamus and Fiona” me
“Darn it” ANdrew
“and guess who else?”
“Darn it. You are a baby hog!” andrew
“No I’m not. Im a baby lover” me
“thats the same thing”
Hahaha well at least Andrew understands

My day started off with a trip to the gym. I knew I would be gone from 9-4, and after that Andrew would be home from school. So I headed up there at 7;30 and did this leg workout again. It is a great workout!

After that it was a quick shower, and over to see Toby. This is the baby I had with me over the summer for a week. There were lots of tears shed with new news about adoption. (I swear, I just want one day without tears this week)

Next up, the twins!

I had so much fun with them!

I even planned ahead and brought my lunch, leftover steak and cauliflower mashed potatoes

This way they didn’t need to cook for me, and I had healthy options.

Finally a trip to Trader Joe’s before heading to get Andrew

P1080128(yup. I stock piled the almond flour haha)

I wanted to try this grass fed butter, suggested by Tiffany

P1080130(hopefully this is what she was talking about haha)

Even though my day started off a little on the sad side, I really did have a good day. Now for a good nights sleep and a free weekend with Andrew 🙂

Question for you:

How many siblings do you have?

-I have two brothers and I am right in the middle. Maybe one day I will do a post of old photos 🙂

Helping others

Today, started off with a quick breakfast of a banana pancake with almond butter on top

I ate breakfast while Andrew rode his bike.

Now I can’t get the kiddo off of it! haha

I then had to get ready for a babies funeral. Lets just say, it was not a way I wanted to start my day, but I know the family was so happy that we came. It was defiantly difficult, but I can only imagine what they are going through. Sending prayers to all parents who lose their babies , way too soon.

I then drove home, ate a quick lunch, and then headed to help my brother and sister in law with the twins.

Apparently Ms. Fiona has her days and nights mixed up 😦 I was very happy to hold them!

I know that when I have a rough day, a good workout, getting sleep, and holding a baby helps me relax. I didn’t work out today so that I could attend the funeral (which was 2 hrs away) and help my family. I already have my bag packed to workout tomorrow after work. (feel free to check in on me to make sure I go! haha)

Question for you:

What do you do when you are having a bad day?

How do you make time for yourself?

Two new recipes for the day

Today all involves food. I must be confused with What I ate Wednesdays haha

First, of all was grocery shopping. And it was all about the veggies. The fruit this week was alittle sad haha

veggies ran the show

and just misc.

I only needed side dishes. I did use some of my veggies for tonight’s dinner

We ate outside since it is in the high 70s and gorgeous. And this sausage recipe is YUMMYYYYYYYY

My dinner date

Then I was looking for something sweet and tried another new recipe!

Nut Butter Cookie from Carrotsncake

Question for you:

Favorite veggie?

Weekly Workouts and goals

This week:

Sunday: Rest day

Monday: 6 mile Bike ride around with Andrew

Tuesday: GYM: 10 min bike, 60 min muscle works class AND a 5.5 mile bike ride with Andrew

Wednesday: Rest day ( 12 hour shift)

Thursday: Rest Day (12 hour shift)

Friday: Babies Babies Babies

Saturday: Rest Day (12 hr shift)

Well. holy moly. Another restful week it seems haha. ok, no I really kicked booty on Monday and Tuesday. But those 12 hour shifts makes it really hard to get a workout in. And then of course the twins came along as well!

luckily, I have been eating clean. I cut out not only carbs, but cheese yogurt, and milk. (only use it in my coffee) Before, I would eat “semi” clean (whatever that means) and I would wake up with extra tummy cramps. I will say not a single morning this week did that happen! Also, I weighed in on Friday and I had lost a lb and a 1/2! And considering I haven’t had any BIG workouts, I consider this a huge success!!!

This weeks goals:

  • Go to bed before 10:30
  • Eat clean
  • Exercise Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat
  • Make time for myself

Question for you:
Do you make weekly/monthly/yearly goals?
What is a goal you want to make this week?
