Little brother’s rehearsal dinner

Last Thursday, our family and friends came together for the rehearsal dinner of my younger brother and future sister in law

The wedding was held at the Oakland House here in St Louis. And it was absolutely gorgeous. Also, there is the option of an indoor or outdoor wedding.

After a quick practice, in the drizzle (we even used umbrellas) it was time to head to dinner!

Everyone had a blast! And we ended up staying till almost 10:30.

The girls got an AMAZING gift of a cute bag with lots of goodies for the wedding day and a poem to match. It also had our initials

Commercial workout + T25

I know that I have been missing for the past few days, only for happy reasons. My brother got married! Last week was a whirlwind, and I promise this week for LOTS Of pictures and stories.

Today though, I want to talk about me 🙂 I have been struggling a lot lately with my eats, workouts, and weight. My neck and pinched nerve are finally better, and I’m ready to get strong.

I weighed myself this morning after weeks of carbs, no workouts, and stresses, and it wasn’t pretty. LUCKLY, I got an AMAZING text from Angela about our new workout plan and keeping each other accountable. She brought my spirits up, and I was ready to attack the day!

My eats were in check, except for a few reese’s, my eats were clean:)

I also dusted off my 10lb weights, and did some short workouts during commercials.

So the plan Angela and I have been talking about, T25!!! I will get the 10 minute workouts wednesday, and will get the 25 minute workouts soon. Angela is starting with the 25. But I plan on updating you all on Thursday when I start them 🙂  I know that I need to start slow so I don’t get hurt. But I am ready to feel strong again, even if I don’t lose a lb, I want my muscles!!!

I would buy LOTS of pictures, especially wallets to pass out. Of course, I bought way too many, but I never got rid of them. So I decided to put them in a book and I thought I would share them  🙂

I went crazy a few years with pictures, but I am so glad to have these. And looking back at the tiny baby boy he was just a few years ago is incredible. He is growing up so fast!

Easter Brunch 2014

Easter this year was pretty amazing! Great weather, great family, great food. I think this year was also pretty special. Not only was I diagnosed with kidney cancer, but my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer (the same day I had surgery) Needless to say, our family had a great time just being with each other, laughing, and bonding 🙂

Andrew and I started our morning with a small egg hunt and his Easter basket.

A great day 🙂 Andrew and I then went home and went on a small bike ride. I am in love with this weather!

Easter Treats

This year, Andrew and I wanted to make a special Easter treat for our Sunday brunch with my mom’s family. Of course, we headed to pinterest for some ideas. We had a brownie mix to use up, so we just searched Easter Brownies

We didn’t have a brownie pan that baked in small squares, so we used a flat baking sheet, let them cool, and then cut them.

They used malt ball candy eggs, we used chocolate M&Ms 🙂

We also handed extras out to neighbors, and they were raving about them! And they were super easy (we might just need to make these next year 🙂

Healthy Living: Week Two

The end of the week has definitely turned out better than the beginning! getting hit with the GI bug while have a pinched nerve was a big blow. I was not handling it very well. I think I am just SO over being sick. I would pay MONEY to feel good and have a sweaty workout haha. But I took it easy, and had MANY days of just laying on the couch. It payed off, and my stomach is doing great, and the pinched nerve only bothers me when I’m sleeping (maybe a new pillow??)

Only two small bike rides with Andrew. Getting well was my only goal this week 🙂

In getting well, I used a Groupon that was going to expire next month for a massage! It was exactly what I needed

What I Ate Wednesday: Real food again

After days of being sick, my stomach is FINALLY coming back to normal!!! I am also trying to get away from carbs. When I am sick, the things I find appetizing are zup, ice cream, and bread. This bug was bad news, I even lost my appetite completely. And that is NOT like me haha

Spring Wreath Making

I started this blog last week, but with everything going on (aka me not leaving my bed), it took the back burner. Now that I have moved to the couch, I am able to get a few things done haha.

On a serious note, I am feeling better today. After about a week, things are starting to turn around 🙂 Now to come off the jelly and bread diet haha

With time off from work, I made a list of what I wanted to do around the house. There are big and little odds and ends I have wanted to complete. I know that I wouldn’t be able to do a ton, but this way I had the list for when I was feeling 100%

One of the projects was a Spring wreath for the front door. Of course, saw it on pinterest

It was super easy, and with a Hobby Lobby coupon, it wasn’t too expensive!

I bought a couple bouquets of flowers (instead of one stem with one big flower~money saver!)

I cut each and stuck them in the wood wreath to make them look like one large flower.

Hitting a bump in the road

Well it’s been a bumpy week. I am now finally able to lift my head off the pillow without the room spinning for a good 5 minutes, so this will be fast! haha

Two weeks ago, I was feeling great! I was trying to get out and about, and may have overdone it. Last week, I pinched a nerve in my neck. This was sending shooting pains down my arm and back. While dealing with that, I was hit with the GI bug that has lingered for a few days now.

It has been a very difficult few days. I keep saying “I just want to feel well!” I want to be able to do laundry,or take Andrew to school. I hate that I am missing things with him. He asked if I could play basketball, and can barely make breakfast without getting lightheaded.

The amazing thing the past week, is how grown up Andrew is! When I was I sick all night, he helped make his breakfast, his lunch, and got himself all ready for school. Makes a momma proud 🙂

I am also excited that in just two weeks I will be back to work! I miss my friends at work and the babies! (just not sure how those 12 hour shifts are going to work….)

But before that, my younger brother will be getting married! I still can not believe it, but could not be more excited for this.

So I have A LOT to look forward to these next weeks, even though  had to vent a little. Hey, recovery is not ALL about the good. Now I just have to rest and GET BETTER!

Healthy Living: week One

Well so this post was supposed to be up yesterday. But this week has been a little rough. I may have pushed it a little too hard. I have a pinched nerve in my neck, which has been sending shooting pains down my arm. Then on Thursday,  I was hit with the GI bug. definitely NOT my week. So the past two days, I have been laying on the couch or my bed. that’s it. But I was able to do some healthy things at the beginning of the week 🙂

I made a promise with myself. Over the past few weeks, I have decided to be healthy for me, for Andrew, for my kidney 🙂 So each week I hope to show you what I have done to make that happen!
