To be a survivor..

In the past few months, I have received SO much support, thoughts and prayers. And now even 2 months out, I was given a few gifts over the past week.

My aunt, who is going through chemo and radiation for breast cancer, sent me this amazing ribbon pin.

On the left, is the angel in my pocket that I received from my mom. I don’t think I will put it in my pocket, but maybe some place safe 🙂

All of these gifts felt so special, and I hold them very close to my heart. To me, I have started to move on, so when I hear “how are you” or I receive a gift, it reminds me how much I have been through and how I want to live my life from now on. My goal is to be happy, in all aspects of my life. Maybe another post for another day…..haha

Post 12 hour workout

I am still not really sure how I did it, but I did my 3 dvds after a 12 hour shift. Luckily, the 12 hour shift was a pretty good day. I also am SO thankful to have Angela during this journey. To have someone to vent to, or even to get motivation from is HUGE for me! As soon as I was done, I sent her a text message haha

Another reason I got this completed, was as soon as I got home, I got changed right away and started. I knew that even if I walked around the house, I would have found things to do or even clean before starting my workout. But I got it done! 3 ten minute dvds and done!

Now it is time for bed, before work tomorrow. Hoping for the motivation to do another workout then as well 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day

I hope each and everyone of you had a great Mother’s Day. Whether you are a mom, a mom to be, or just celebrating your mom, I hope you all enjoyed the day.

My day started out with cartoons with Andrew, breakfast and then church. And some gifts from Andrew 🙂

After that we hit the ground running, first to Home depot for sand paper, and then to get my mother’s day gift. A baseball glove!

Andrew has been pitching for one of his baseball teams, which means we practice. EVER. NIGHT. I didn’t have a glove, but now I do! It was the perfect gift!

We then went to kickboxing. I bought a 2 week groupon, and I am hooked! I love the class. It goes by so fast, and I get a great workout. I can also bring Andrew with me and he can hang out and see me working out, which I think is great for kids to see! So glad I went 🙂

Later, we headed to my parents. My mom helped Andrew pick out this bracelet, which was exactly my style!

The day ended at my parents house with my brothers, sister in laws, and nephews and nieces for dinner and lots of laughs. It was a great day 🙂

Spring is here! Gardening time

Today, I woke up in a weird mood. Ok. I’m exhausted. I have not been sleeping well at all, but I didn’t let that stop me. So I headed to my home away from home, Home Depot. A few weeks ago, my dad and I took all the plants out of the front yard. It looked amazing just having those dead ugly thorn bushes gone!

I found some pretty plants, and got to planting 🙂

I know it doesn’t look like much, but the before is NOT good. I even had several neighbors tell me how they were glad that those bushes are gone haha. me too!

I also got the grass cut and trimmed. Lots of time outside, which helped my spirits a lot!

A day in the life: kickboxing!

Hi everyone! The past few days have been crazy, fun, and busy. but I have to say, MY ENERGY IS RETURNING!!! I have had the week off, and I am determined to get things done around the house and get my workouts in! This is how my days have been lately…..

6:45 Wake up and eat breakfast with Andrew

8:00 Go over to my parents and take care of their animals (they are at the beach!)

8:30 Start my 3 ten minute DVDs. I haven’t missed a day and I am feeling SO strong! I also love how they give me energy for the rest of the day!

9:30 Work on kitchen. I have been scrapping, sanding, and will some day start Repainting these darn things.

It has been taking HOURS a day! They better look AMAZING!!!

Then there is lunch, pick up Andrew, and homework. And then kickboxing! my cousin and I bought a groupon for a boxing/kickboxing class and it is an amazing class! I am sweating within the first ten minutes, and it is always fun (especially when I picture NOT nice people. they will remain nameless haha)

yep. so this week I have completed all the DVDs and two kickboxing classes. I feel amazing. I also have been eating really well, and my appetite has gone DOWN. not sure what that is about. Maybe that darn tumor. who knows! haha

So that is what I have been up to lately. I have also been trying to stay off the computer and away from the TV. Only once Andrew goes to bed, unless I need to check something fast. I am trying to check up on blogs, but it has been so nice to step away. My camera lens also broke, so these were taken with my phone, not too bad for a phone from the 90s haha.

I love my blog, so I will definitely keep the updates coming!

For just ten minutes

Over the past few weeks (while I have been waiting for my strength to return), I DREAMEDDD about working out again. I knew that when I overdid it working on the yard outside, earning me a pinched nerve in my neck, I needed to take it slow. But I wasn’t sure what.

The thing is, I was starting to feel subconscious again. My clothes were on the tighter side, the carbs were out of control, and I was feeling floppy ( know what I mean? haha) So when Andrew and I met his dad for lunch one day, I noticed he had lost a bit of weight. We began talking about workouts and eating healthy (who is this guy? haha) and He mention T 25. I knew that I wouldn’t be up to that right away, but maybe just do what I could. I just didn’t want to hurt myself. Then he mentioned the 10 minute workouts from Beachbody group that he would lend me. Sounds good to me! (I am not associated with the group, the opinions are all my own!)

On Thursday, I broke out the DVDs and got moving! The program is set up for a full month, with three programs a day that each last 10 minutes. If you can’t do all three, just do two or one! So when I got started, I said I would see how I felt and go from there.

Day 1: Cardio, Lower body, and Abs

~ This actually went really well! I was sweating and breathy heavy, but not like I would die or I couldn’t finish. I felt strong! The ab workout I took lots of breaks because of my surgery and incisions. Even though they are healed, I didn’t want to do anything silly. Or push it too hard! I finished all three 🙂

Day 2: Total body, Cardio, Lower body

~ I was really sore after day 1! The next day I worked a 12 hour shift, so no workout that day. So on Saturday, I woke up and got this workout right out of the way! The lower body and cardio totally got me moving and my legs nice and sore!

~~~~UPDATE SO FAR~~~~~~

I am LOVING the workouts. Super easy to have them at my house. I used to workout at home, but wasn’t getting motivated, so the gym was what I needed. Now, the home workouts are perfect! they are hard, but not impossible. I look forward to working out, and feeling strong! I also have my son’s dad and Angela checking on me! It is helping a lot!

A special delivery, cast iron

A few weeks ago, I had a special delivery…..

My mom and I have been talking about how to keep my kidneys healthy. And that brought up my old pots and pans…… They were BAD news. To know that our kidneys filter EVERYTHING, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t eating anything my body doesn’t need.

I looked around, and actually found these at Target

They are the perfect cast iron beginner set, and they were reasonable!

I have used them for the past week, and I am in love. I immediately got rid of the others!

The only downside is I have to handwash them after each use, dry right away, and then wipe with a thin layer of oil. That’s just cast iron. but otherwise, they are perfect!
