Christmas 2017

Christmas is one of my favorite days of the year, and this year it was no different. I woke up early to get a few things together, and Steve got off work at7, and then we had to wake up the little guy at 8! I had just alittle time before for coffee in bed.

What is it about coffee in bed that makes it a billion times better?

Then it was up for all the present with the guys

I then finished up the breakfast prep with some hot chocolate

Our parents came over for monkey bread and egg casserole. My mom brought fruit and Steve’s Mom brought shrimp and dip. We had so much delicious food

We were able to have a few hours to spend together before Steve headed to bed.

While he was sleeping, I worked out with t25, and then made the sweet potatoes for my grandmas house.

This is my favorite because all my aunt, uncles, and cousins go to my grandmas house for dinner, ping pong tournament, gifts, and a round of white elephant.

Question for you:

What was your favorite Christmas gift this year?

Have you ever played white elephant? Was was your favorite gift?

Christmas Eve 2017

I can’t believe we made it to Christmas and it’s already over! It always goes by so fast!

Christmas Eve was much more low key this year. First, it started with more snow โ„๏ธ

Day started with Boiling sweet potatoes that will be fried on Christmas afternoon. Today, I can boil them, let them cool, peel them, cut them and then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. All prepped for Christmas Day to pan fry

Then to crossfit. Ive been trying to work on my booty and legs. I don’t activate those muscles as I should. I started with working on double under since those are my weakness in crossfit! Haha

I found this workout through Juli at @paleomg on instagram and it was a great workout! And then I finished with an 8minute tabata ab workout

After cleaning up, I made up the egg casseroles for breakfast on Christmas morning ( one with jalepenos, one plain) Now they are ready and just need to be baked while we open gifts ๐ŸŽ

My day ended with my nephew Brian’s 8th birthday party and meeting their brand new puppy Molly.

And finally I drove two hours to get Andrew, after he spent a few days with his Dads family. We arrived home just in time to get in bed for Santa to come!

Pretending you are asleep so Santa will come early Pretending you are asleep so Santa will come early

Question for you:What are you traditions for Christmas Eve?

12 days of Christmas

Wow sorry I’ve been alittle MIA it’s been alittle stressful at our house. Andrew had the flu (130 kids were out of school on Monday) and Tuesday night Andrew started with a headache and fever. ๐Ÿค’

It was no fun. Steve was also working nights, so I was taking care of Andrew, getting up early to get to work at 6 to work as much as I could and get an 8hour work day completed in 5, then come back home to take care of him so steve could go to sleep. But luckily, Andrew only was really down for he count two days, and Steve and I never got it!! Wahoooo! Thank god for emergenC

Fast forward to Saturday, we were all well, and had our very first snow of the season

Andrew was four hours away celebrating Christmas with his dads family, so steve and I went to breakfast at a brand new place called the shack and it was ammmazinng! I cant to go back! I got the smoke ’em if you got ’em skillet.

Next up was the 12 days of christmas at crossfit and this one was just as tough as last year!

But it was so much fun working out with everyone, since some people go to classes early or different times, I don’t get to see them as often. I still modify a bunch of my moves and finished in 29:08

Next up was lunch out with my parents, my brother, sister in law and niece. We visited The Boathouse in Forest Park which unfortunately was bought out and we are not sure what the future holds. But we had a great lunch together

Steve worked tonight and Andrew was still out of town, so I prepped all the food for the next few days. Starting with real everything’s monkey bread 2.0. And making all the veggies and meat for the egg casseroles for Christmas morning.

And finally I got the table set for Christmas morning breakfast with Steve, his parents, Andrew, and my parents.

Then it was time to crash. What.

Question for you:

What is your favorite restaurant to go to with your family and friends?

Well it stinks…..the flu has hit St. Louis, and our house. Andrew is the first and hopefully the last to get the flu. Tuesday he was complaining of a headache and vision blurriness. He told me over 100 kids at his school are out.

Well…. that was enough to answer my question. So we headed to the doctor and got swabbed and + it was for influenza A

So of course I dropped him at home and headed to Walgreens to load of with the essentials, one of them being tamiflu

I mean we have Christmas plans!!! My hope is this little guy will be more himself tomorrow and steve and I don’t get it ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Also that maybe Mr giraffe will get him well fast!

Prayers are welcome

Goals for the week:<<<<
tay away from the sweets! My stomach, mood, and sleep do not do well with them(but they taste sooooo good!)

2.) keep moving. With lots of activities through the week, workouts can be pushed away. At least getting moving as much as I can!

What holiday plans do you have this week ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿคถ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผโ›„๏ธ

What I ate Wednesday

Just a sneak peak into my eats for the day, also all the recipes for this weeks dinner

7am: coffee + collagen + Mct oil+ pumpkin spice

10am breakfast: egg whites, jalapeรฑos, green peppers and ground turkey with tomatoes on top

Snack these are very good! My mom got them and they are only 100 calories

2pm lunch: chicken leftovers + broccoli slaw and grapes

4pm snack: sweet peppers

Dinner: chicken noodle soup in the crockpot

Dessert: Greek yogurt, apple, sliced almonds, almond butter, cinnamon and a dash of stevia

Weekly meals

Each weekend I plan the weeks meals. It helps to make a list and then add to he grocery store to get all the food. I prefer this because I don’t like dealing with crowds, and I spend less money just going once. This is what is planned for this week

Monday: paleo beef and broccoli (good not the best)

Tuesday: grilled chicken bruschetta (yummy)

Wednesday: crockpot chicken noodle soup

Thursday: pulled pork

Friday: leftovers

Saturday: wing it

Question for you:

Where is your favorite place to grocery shop?

Mine is aldi! I go there every week and schnucks only every other. Aldi doesn’t carry my favorite broccoli slaw ๐Ÿ˜ซ

Weekly meal prep

Just a few months ago, I started a new job that was now Monday through Friday. Not at lot changed, since I was getting up with Andrew for school anyway. But the one thing I needed to make sure I had ready was healthy food. I have found over the years that carbs and sugar don’t do well with my stomach, so no eating at the hospital cafeteria for me.

Instead, on weekends I make sure to have my breakfasts prepped and ready.

I also hate waking up earlier than I have to so this way I just packed them the night before.

Lunch is always leftovers, so that just gets packed in my lunch. Not much prepping for that. But before heading to the store, I will plan dinners for the week.

I always start by making some sort of protein. Turkey bacon or ground turkey in one pan.

I will mix up 1 cup of egg whites with my Emerson blender and cook that in a second pan and repeat that five times

While those are cooking, I will chop the veggies and then cook them when the eggs and protein are done.

And finally the jalapeรฑos get cooked.

I then measure the total, and separate into five different containers

Of course I add spices!

So super easy. Place the egg whites, then divide the jalepeno, divide the green pepper, divide the turkey bacon, and sprinkle with spices. And they are good to go in the frig to just pull out for the next morning!!

Question for you:

Do you meal prep for your work week?

Goals this week:

2.) sleep at least 7hours a day

3.) lose weight even if it’s only 0.1 lbs!

Question for you:

What is your favorite way to workout or just get moving?

Brewery lights

One of my favorite things during this time of year, is going to look at Christmas lights. We are so lucky to have so many parks and places that have lights.

This was our very first time going to the anheuser Busch lights. It was a little chilly, but we layered up as best we could. We started out at dinner at O’Connells and then to see some lights ๐ŸŽ„

What makes the brewery lights different, is they give adults arm bands to receive five samples of the brewery beers And then you walk around the brewery with the booth stops along the way. And it’s a free event with places you can buy additional items or more drinks and food.

But the best part are the Clydesdales you get to take your picture with. I love horses so this was the highlight of my night.

We ended the night with Andrew making a smore, kits are bought at another booth. It was a great night with the guys. And now I just need to warm up haha

Questions for you:

Do you like to go look at lights?

What is your favorite part of the Christmas season?

Weekly workouts

When I used to blog several years ago,I would include my workouts for the week. Not only does it show me where I need to improve but also all the amazing things I have done!

From 2013…..

I mostly do workouts at my crossfit gym and go to yoga once in awhile. I do need to start adding in rest days. I enjoy working out and that feeling of lifting heavy or getting my legs moving. Since I work at a desk job now, I don’t move anywhere need what I used to!

But this week I realized Saturday morning, no crossfit for me. I was happy I listened to my body and had a great day hike with Steve

Sunday: crossfit (6,811 steps)

Monday: rest day (9,853 steps)

Tuesday: crossfit (12,274 steps)

Wednesday: crossfit (8,982 steps)

Thursday: crossfit (12,939 steps)

my favorite workout was today. I did the 12 calorie row , 115lb deadlift, and did overhead press with 25lb dumbbells instead of handstand push-ups.

Friday: crossfit (11,135 steps)

Saturday: 5.5 mile hike with steve (16,946 steps)

Not too shappy on the steps!

Goals this week:

1.) at least 10,000 steps a day. Yoga Monday, crossfit and rest days ๐Ÿ™‚

2.) sleep at least 7hours a day
