What do you have planned for 2014?

Celebrating the big 2-8

Hi everyone! I know I have been “missing” lately when it comes to the blogging world, but I have to say, I have been out exploring the world, enjoying my summer with Andrew, and otherwise I work (BLAH). But I do have a lot to tell you guess! I promise!

~~~~~~~
special day :)
special day 🙂
Today I turned the big 2.8. It started off like any other day, trying to sleep in waking up to Andrew’s voice (or him jumping on my bed)
P1070489b
We had breakfast, nothing special, and went to the library.
Then at 10:30 we went to see the baby who stayed with us for 6 days a few weeks ago. I swear if ANYWAY can cheer me up, it is this little guy. And he started crawling!!!
Ok. enough gushing about him. Andrew and I then went to the pool. He brought a friend and I swam a mile!!!!!
swimming
I know that isn’t a big deal for some, I mean I used to swim mileS in practice  in highschool and college. But it has been about 2 years since I was swimming with the masters team. I COMPLETELY miss swimming. I actually swam last Saturday as well.
After a few hours at the pool, we headed to my parents for the confetti cake. Ok. really for family dinner I mean the cake haha
P1070494(the flames of each candle were the same color as the candle, very cool)
We had lots of goofy pictures
And then I got the best present EVER!!!
P1070502 P1070503
I have ALWAYS wanted one, but I would never spend that kind of money on myself (just privacy fences haha)
I can’t wait to try this before work tomorrow! I swear I will have more posts coming up- lots to catch you up on 🙂
Question for you:
What kind of coffee do you like?
What month is your birthday?
Amazing cake frosting
A few days ago, we celebrated Andrew’s 8th birthday with my family.
I swear every time we get together, we never leave before 8. So much to do and talk about, SO little time
For birthday’s we always have confetti cake, which started even when my brothers and I were little. And so it continues.…..
My work station haha
I kindof followed this recipe
Cake Frosting
-4 cups powdered sugar
-1/2 cup butter
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 4 tbsp milk
Directions:
1.) Beat butter until smooth
2.) Add vanilla
3.) On slow, add sugar
4.) Add milk, and beat till light and fluffy (5 minutes)
(the website said you can store this in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. when does icing last that long anyway? haha)
Not too bad
Nice and fluffy
Of course, we have to have lego candles 🙂
Question for you:
Do you have a tradition when it comes to birthdays?
Birthday, anniversary, Cake Oh MY!
This past weekend, I was lucky to have a few parties to attend and one massage on the calendar (it definitely helped keep my mind off the Kansas trip. Ok. Maybe just alittle)
The celebrations began on Friday night, when Pam (who is like my 2nd mom) came over with wine, kleenex, magazines, and a blanket. She basically ambushed my pity party (for which I am thankful…alittle haha) It was nice to talk things out about Mr. Flowers. I guess I’ll need to update everyone on that sometime soon, a new post maybe…
Saturday was my dad’s 67th bday! (with lots of silly faces)
the night ended with the boys wrestling. boys.....
And ended with our signature confetti cake- DELICIOUS
I of course, only took pictures  of the cake……oops
After this past weekend, even though I worked out, I still had LOTS of cake, ice cream and carbs. Its now time to get back to business.
Question for you:
What is the next birthday party you will celebrate?
Birthday # 27
A year ago, I celebrated my birthday with a small get together and got the best present ever.
After this weekend barbecue, it was time for a low key birthday. Today I OFFICALLY turned 27!
My day started out with pancakes with Andrew, and then my dad changed the oil in my car. A great gift too!
Andrew and I then headed to the movies to see Ice Age 4. It was really cute
Lunch time
and then the pool. Andrew heading down the slide
Finally, dinner at my parents with the family. I got a dehumidifier 🙂
This is something I needed for my house, and my parents were nice to get it. (those things are crazy expensive! And I need one for Andrew’s allergies.)
Well there you have it. Another year. Weird to see how things changed from year to year….
Question for you:
What is your favorite birthday gift you can remember?
The after party
Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was INSANE. there is no other way to describe it.
I worked on Friday, and then Saturday I had my family and friends over for my birthday/ house party.
I LOVEE having people over but it is a ton of work! Especially, when your only helper is 7……
The day of the party started with this…
the handle cameOUT OF THE FRONT DOOR when I tried to open it. I sat on the floor and cried (can you say over stressed! haha)
So I added home depot on my to do list.
Unfortuntly, I didn’t take a lot of pictures at the party. I didn’t even get to eat everything because I was running around talking to everyone!
But I do have AFTER party pictures haha
The kitchen…eek….
Sangria 🙂 Recipe to come!
These flowers arrived………..might need to fill you in on that too…
I got these flowers from trader joe’s
I did get this gift from my younger brother- it was perfect!
The night ended with sangria, sitting outside with friends, and then sleeping in till 8am! wahoO
Question for you:
What did you do this weekend?
Bounce Birthday
Today Andrew and his close friend celebrated their June birthday’s with their friends.
Andrew’s birthday isn’t till the 9th. Can you believe he will be 7!!!!!!! I CAN’T!!!!
~~~~

Man. First second grade boys sure have A TON of energy!

We had their birthday at Vetta Sports. Which has every bounce house in the world haha

Here are the birthday boys (andrew in the blue)

We had an avengers cookie cake and sang happy birthday with lego candles

Then it was time to open presents.

Andrew and I have been playing all afternoon with some cool stuff his friends gave him. He is one lucky guy

Question for you:
How did you celebrate your birthday when you were a kid?

-My family had one of those big tin pools. We would have friends over, water balloons, cake, and ice cream. It was simple and perfect

Ya Ya’s birthday

Today was my mom’s 55th birthday! Of course the whole family meet over at the folks house to celebrate.

I made the spinach salad w/ cranraisins, almond slices, feta, straberries, and raspberry vinagerette

And the cake. Andrew helped to decorate 🙂

My son Andrew, and my nephew, Brian, had a blast playing together! They are buddies!

Well, I’m off to bed. Ok to read. I just a new book two days ago, and I’m almost finished! More on that later….

Question for you:

Cake, cupcakes, cookies, or brownies?
