I am NOT talking about the reality TV show, I am talking about the NICU

Today was my first day at work after deciding what to “give up” for Lent. (although I’m really not giving up anything. Unless you count cookies, cakes, candy, and computer time.)

Anyway, first thing I walk in this morning to find donuts in the nurses lounge. I’m not a HUGE donut fan (I mean, Ill eat them! haha) but they aren’t something I crave. But at 6:30 when you are tired, you will eat anything. I ignored them.

I ate a half bagel thin, PB, and 1/2 banana before coming to work. So I didn’t NEED anything.

Breakfast came around 10am: Oatmeal, cinnamon, and banana

While eating my breakfast, someone brought in cookies. COOKIES AT 10 AM COME ON!!!! They kept staring at me. Saying “just try a little piece”. NO THANK YOU. When I was done w/ my oatmeal, I left the lounge. Putting distance between me and the cookies. It worked.

Midmorning snack: cashews

Mom update: I talked w/ her this morning and she is sounding much more alive than yesterday. it must be all the yummy things I got her! 🙂

Everyday, I have to walk by the dieticians office to get to the nurses lounge. And you know what they have, Candy. LOTS OF CANDY! I see it everytime I walk to the lounge, office, or front desk. But today, I resisted all of it.

Lunch: Mini Lasagna Cups, sweet potato fries and ketchup, and pudding cup

Snack: Apple slices (I wasn’t even THAT hungry, but I knew I needed something to get me through to the end of my shift)

Dinner: Shrimp Pasta

Before leaving work: Got a call from Andrew’s doctor at 4:55pm. When I called at 5:05, it said they had left the office. If they even tell me he is positive for strep or flu, I might scream

haha. thats right. Today. NO CANDY. I did it.

After yesterdays candy ATTACK. I knew I needed to stay away from it today (but it wasn’t easy!)

I did eat a huge bagel…but we wont count that……..

but hey. its progress.

SO I found a way to use my sugar, but NOT eat it haha

it is called sugar scrub.  Has anyone ever tried this?

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

Ours was very low key until it was time to trick or treat!

My son’s halloween costume turned out PERFECT!

Well it all started with a box…..

After a little red spray paint, yogurt cup tops, and glue, the box finally came together and turned into a LEGO!!!

 the glue was used to write lego on the yogurt containers, and then spray paint on top when it was dry.

  It turned out to be a really good night w/ perfect weather

We went to visit family, and ran into my uncle. Who loves halloween (as well as my mom and me) He is the scary guy in the cage- that Andrew didnt want to go by. Imagine that!

 Im in love with a lego ❤

 I love halloween decorations, so when I saw this house I was so impressed!

Each one was a different color light, and they are made out of foam, can you believe that?!?!

 I will say. I would much rather carve a REAL pumpkin. But they were still very impressive

 I got home with some candy and a very tired Lego

 (my mom gave him the book)

I know some of you also remember the brown dress I was looking for, while I was a hamburger. It didn’t turn out as planned, but I still thought I was pretty original



Sorry its blurry. But around the middle, I had dark fabric for the hamburger and fabric to make lettuce, cheese, and a tomato. I then had a necklace that had a mcdonalds container and french fries. David was robin hood.

– Would you rather carve a real pumpkin or the foam one that you can keep for years?







240 calories

TOday after lunch I wanted something sweet. 

 I was atwork.
I was tired.
i was sore.
And I became weak and ate candy (I gave it up for lent)
Anyway, I ended up with 3 funsize kit kat.
I thought it was safe.
THEN I saw it was 240 calories TOTALLY!!!
I was in shock!!

And then I thought of all the things I could have eaten for 240 calories….








Well you get the idea. I wish I would have calculated them first.
