When life gets tough, get busy

I have to say THANK YOU so much to everyone’s response about my not so expected CT results. I will say I am feeling better today, mostly because I stayed pretty busy (otherwise I would start tearing up)

SOOO the day started by having breakfast with Andrew, and taking him to school. Then to Sam’s to stock the frig, especially with lots of eggs.

Next up, was the muscle works class at the gym. It was awesome.

Then I went on a cleaning spree.

I got the bathrooms, all the wood floors, laundry, dishes, and anything I could get my hands on cleaned up. I even washed the shower curtain. haha

I also stopped by the grocery store for some almond “yogurt”.

I even had 20 minutes to lay down before I picked up Andrew from school. That’s when I got a bit teary, and headed to attack more of the house haha.

Lots done today, which I am really happy about, and helped me keep my mind busy.

What I ate Wednesday: 12 hour shift

This week has defiantly been interesting. As of Wednesday, I have worked five 12 hour shifts in a row. I knew that i needed to be prepared for those few days, if I wanted to stay away from the junk food at work.

I first started off with a crockpot of stew

I also had leftover sausage, potato, and peppers baked in the over, and a rotisserie chicken from Sam’s. I have a few different things each week so I don’t get bored and eat the junk.

So this is how a 12 hour shift of food goes…….

Breakfast: Made at home. This week has been big on protein pancakes.

And they keep me full till 10:30! At that time, I have bacon (made at home), a mini morning glory muffin + almond butter

Around noon I usually have some cashews

2pm Is lunch time in the NICU world. I also have cucumbers, and dates for dessert

8pm A small dinner. Basically something different than lunch. I have to keep it different!

This it is time to pack up for the next day, and hit the hay

-I had a rough day in the NICU and didn’t end up leaving till almost 10. (usually leave at 7:30!)

What I ate Wednesday: Recipe

This week has been a bit crazy and busy, with work and bike riding! So today’s What I ate Wednesday is a recipe!

I made this for my brother and sister in law who are expecting twins anytime now! She is 36 wks on Friday and I CAN NOT wait to meet them!

Smoked Sausage, Potatoes, and Green Beans

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb  green beans
  • 1 lb baby red potatoes
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage links
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4-6 cups chicken broth
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1.) Cut sausage links in 1 inch sections. Chop onion (and potatoes if they are too large)

2.) Place on ingredients in crockpot

3.) Cut for 5-6 hrs

4.) Enjoy!

Dirt Bath

Today it was a MILLION degrees in St louis. But my house has to get done sometime!

After church I was starving, and stuck with the good o’ egg/banana/ PB sandwich haha

Then off to my house to sand the kitchen walls. My brother put the mud on this week. There was white stuff everywhere! I told my dad that I aged 40 years working in my house already haha. It was all in my hair!

I then pulled a million weeds in the front yard, and then attacked this!

we worked for 5 hours at my house! We got a lot done, but still has a way to go before my Bday on saturday!

I then took a bath, because this wouldnt do….

gross I knoow. there was more dirt on me than on the ground. I was a mess!

Luckily I thought ahead, and put a pork tenderloin in the crock pot with potatoes, carrots, water, and spices

and it was ready for dinner at 6!

it was delicious! I also needed something sweet! (like always!)

I know they make PB with chocolate. But I just put PB, then melt the chocolate chips and then spread. it does a body good!

The finally plan of the evening, shaving my son’s hair. He wanted a mohawk and since he isnt in school and doesnt get to decide many things, I went with it.

Then I had some popcorn and watched tourist, with JOhnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. It was ok. Nothing special.

Now bed~ more work tomorrow 🙂

-I love the pirate of the caribean movies. and I just saw Salt, which was really good!
