Healthy snacks to curve cravings

A few weeks ago, I started a group on facebook. Team Knockout. I know, really cool name 😉

I started it, not only because I am a beachbody coach, but because I wanted to help people. After losing 15lbs, I wanted to help other people too! I still have more to lose, but I know that feeling when you are actually eating well, working out, and you feel great! And I want to be a part of that and helping them succeed!

This week, I had a friend who asked about healthy snacks that would help with cravings. I thought what a great way to share some ideas, and help with that sweet tooth! And those strange people who have salty cravings (haha jk!)

 Sweet tooth

~apple and peanut butter

~dark chocolate chips (try sugar free if dark is too much)

~grapes

~watermelon

~colby cheese and apple slices

Salty

~cashews

~homemade trail mix (cashews, almonds, and some dried fruit)

~cottage cheese (can add fruit)

~kale or sweet potato “chips”

Of course, there is always carrots or a shakeology shake 🙂

The big thing is, you NEED to have these available. When you are making your shopping list (make sure you aren’t hungry!) and add fruits, veggies, nuts, and cheese. If you are worried about things going bad, get frozen. Andrew will have frozen blueberries with his eggs for breakfast. That way, I don’t waste money on fruit going bad.

These are the foods that are going to help you curve cravings. And each day it will get easier to step away from the cake, move away from the chips.

Time for some energy

Holy Moly. What a day. I had a bit of a revelation.

Yesterday, I had a sugar overload. I could NOT stop eating candy at work, and then I had the crash. Then I felt bad. Then I cried myself to sleep. Ok. I didn’t do that, but it made me realize something. I want to eat foods that give me ENERGY!

When I got up today, my goal was to eat healthy, not have the afternoon crash, and not get cranky with Andrew

Breakfast: 2 eggs, sausage, and paleo pancakes

Then I went crazy. Laundry, dishes, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, and workout class at the gym. ALL BEFORE NOON!

The rest of the day, before I ate something, I said “Is this going to give me energy? or no?”

I went shopping, and made a green smoothie and brought snacks for the trip haha

Lunch I tried to recreate my Fitz’s Burger.

(busy) ME DAY

Only I would have a busy “me day”, instead of taking a day of rest. I did do some fun stuff though!

My TO DO LIST:

  • Pack for vacation (we leave saturday!)
  • return books at the library
  • Get school stuff for andrew
  • Visit grandma
  • Massage
  • Grocery shopping for car ride
  • Pedicure
  • Bike ride (maybe…)
  • Sleep in (if Im lucky)
  • Dinner with friends
  • Old Navy for school clothes
  • Pool

out of 12 not too shabby. I didn’t want to buy school supplies w/out andrew. I always remember how fun it was! And the bike ride and pool got cancelled due to rain- BOOOO

Morning started off with an awesome/easy breakfast

then to my new house, library, and massage! It was wonderful. Exactly what I needed- thank you groupon!

Next up, visiting old navy (if you buy $20 worth of stuff you get $10 to spend next week- SWEET!).

Then to my grandma’s and finally home for lunch!

(yougurt, blueberries, apples, and fiber one cereal)

Then a pedicure with my mom. It was fun to do this with her, and love the color!

Finally, the moment I was waiting for ALLLL day!

I got to pick up this lil guy!

Home just in time to get ready for dinner.

My brother called me Barbie, not sure why. I didnt have any pink on haha (for once)

My friends and I were meeting up to celebrate one last time with Katie, who is moving to D.C. to do travel nursing.

She is HILARIOUS.  I will miss her. Its only for 13 weeks, but she might go somewhere else after that!

But the night was still young, at 1030, I went to the grocery store.

-My family doenst go anywhere with out licorice and peanut butter M&Ms. YUM

Lunch Box

For work, I ALWAYS bring my own food.

I do this because not only is the cafeteria food more $$$, I have also not heard the best stories. (ALthough sometimes the DQ bizzards look amazing! Yep. Thats right, we have a DQ right. down. stairs.)

To save time in the morning, I pack my bag the night before. Sometimes I will use leftovers, here are some ideas:

-Turkey sandwich

boca burger
-PB and J

– Salad (w/ chicken, walnuts, cranraisins, the options are endless)

Homemade pizza
meatball sandwich (but can be messy)

And there are even MORE possibilites for sides!!

But of course dont forget dessert 🙂

I ususally bring a vitatop, sugar free pudding, or have a few million pieces of candy

My bag today includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks

Breakfast (usually aroudn 10 or 1030)

I bring a bowl to make my oatmeal w/ cinnamon, banana, and the main ingredient PB!

Bowl O oats

Lunch around 2 or 3

Boca burger with american cheese, arnolds thins, yellow pepper and ketchup. watermelon. Dessert vitatop

Snacks:

Pecans, apple that I cut up and put in yogurt

I find that if I eat a bigger lunch, then when I get home I dont STUFF my face. I also have a hardboiled egg and colby cheese or an omlet before coming into work at 6am
