Life savers after surgery

During recovery from a major surgery, I started to look back at all the amazing things I used that were LIFE SAVERS. The little odds and ends that made recovery and life so much easier those first few weeks and I wanted to pass them on to you!

~Night gowns~

I didn’t think this would be a big deal, but wearing even sweats with my incisions was NOT a good time. If you EVER have to have surgery, you must have some. Also, have several so you can wash them each night. You don’t want to get your incisions infected (ok. done being the nurse haha)

~Workout jacket with thumb holes~

DSCN0513

it kept me warm, and its cute!

~$9 sleepers from Old Navy~

DSCN0517

I didn’t want to walk around the hospital barefoot, this were so comfy too!

~Soft robe from target. Also comfy clothes at Old navy~

DSCN0505

I used the robe in the hospital and at home. I LIVED in comfy clothes for WEEKS.

– Netflix. I watched Prion Break (also Downton Abbey on Amazon Prime) and lots of chick flicks!

~Cards and flowers~

DSCN0501

I had NO IDEA how much these would effect me. Even a simple text, meant the world to me. To know that others were thinking and praying for me, was uplifting. I was in great need of them when i was having a not so good day

~Cake. Because it’s awesome.~

DSCN0497

I mean who doesnt love cake! My mom’s friend made this and brought a smile to my face 🙂

~Cross stitch~

DSCN0500

This was given to me from my grandma, and helped keep me busy. Also, I accomplished something more than watching tv and laying around. This helped me so much!

~Bag of goodies~

DSCN0511

I was given this before surgery by a close friend. It had EVERYTHING! I especially used the travel toothbrush, lotion, and face wash. Back to the basics.

~~~~
Before surgery, I only had a few days to prepare. I ran to Target, Marshalls, and Old Navy is a WILD search for comfy clothes. I came home with bags, and used about 3/4th of them. I slippers were also a great find. On sale, andd then I didnt walk barefoot in the hospital-YUCK.
Now to never have to use this list again 🙂
Question for you:
Have you ever had a long stay in a hospital before?
A favorite piece of comfy clothes, or something you use wen you are sick?
Less than $50 at Target? no way
I think I may have a small problem with target.com
P1070870
(ok not a problem, just a few things to buy)
After my “issue” at my house a few weeks ago (where someone broke in) I thought it was time to buy some new curtains for the living room and dining!
A few weeks after I moved in
A few weeks after I moved in
(it only took me 2 years…)
Luckily, I am always in Target……
P1070876
(I mean who can leave there under 50 bucks!??!?! But the curtains were not that bad AT ALL!)
SO they had the style but not the length, so I ordered them online with Andrew’s new school pants and shorts And I love how they turned out!
P1070873
Hopefully this will keep away the peeping toms 🙂
Later I will show you the ones in the living room, they are light tan and just not that exciting. (yup I get excited about curtains, OH WELL!) I also want to paint the chandelier. All in good time
Question for you:
What is your favorite section to hit up at Target?
-I always go by the shoes, for Andrew and for me!
What house project(s) are you working on right now?
– I have another outdoor project coming up! Shouldn’t take more than a day or two 🙂
Workout “stuff”
New workout gear!!
I realized that I haven’t bought any workout “stuff” in FOREVER!
I am in love my reebox reflex shoes, but am definitely in need a new kicks
img_0096(this picture is when I first bought them. who knew they were really grey when I got them!?!?! haha)
BUT I was able to get this at Target as a start
P1070730
At only 12 bucks a pop, I am REALLY happy with this
P1070729
This sports bra is made by Champion. I loved the small straps (that I can adjust!) and it was comfortable enough to wear all day!
I wore it to play tennis with Andrew, and for a workout tonight. It didn’t move, get too tight (like I’m adjusting myself the whole time. That doesn’t make you look cool haha) and I DEFINITELY need to get more!
Question for you:
What is your favorite workout clothing item?
Getting back to it
I want to say thank you for all the wonderful comments the past few days. Thing are looking up!
Even though today started off with a cough, we were off and running!
After walking Andrew to school, I had a company come survey my property
IMG_1567
It was long over due, and now I have these nice stakes and pink grass haha
I cleaned the house, and got things organized. I found that I was light headed and having a tight chest.
IMG_1558
Thank goodness for my own stethoscope haha.
Everything was ok 🙂
I thought maybe I was just feeling gloomy and down, and that I needed to get out and about! I went on a 30 minute bike ride around the neighborhood, but thats as far as I could make it 😦
Target trip for food supplies
IMG_1562
Andrew and I grilled tonight for dinner
IMG_1565
It was actually my first time grilling sweet potatoes! YUMMY!!!!
I just put olive oil and cinnamon on them before grilling
IMG_1564
And finally went to get a pedicure with my mom
IMG_1568
Funny how they match my flowers?!?! haha
Question for you:
What is something you did today?
How did you move your body tonight?
Favorite Things
The past few months, I have found some new items around the house that I wanted to share!
Question for you:
What is something you are loving lately?
How is your weekend?
Preparing for the blizzard..with shopping
Most people are preparing for snowmageddon, yep. Its a real thing and apparently it has already hit Kansas. With snow in the forecast, I did what any normal person would do I went shopping. For house decorations. haha
First, I started out with rugs.
rugs
I have NO IDEA how this happened. I blame pinterest (again)
rugsusa.com also has most rugs 50% off with FREE SHIPPING! I want this one for the dining room
rugs
And before I knew it, Andrew and I were heading out in search of a rug for the living room……
We started with Home Goods. left with these baskets. The glass vase was from Marshalls
IMG_1182
These will both go on the bathroom shelves…whenever they get put up….
IMG_1183
Home Goods also had this beautiful pot that will one day house a plant for the living room
one day will have a "home" somewhere in the living room
one day will have a “home” somewhere in the living room
Garden Ridge was next and is amazing. And the winner for finding a perfect rug!
IMG_1167 IMG_1166
And only 100 bucks! (sorry the pictures are so dark)
And finally Target
might need to get the bigger one
might need to get the bigger one
All of it so far…..
IMG_1179
After a couch, chair and curtains and the room will be complete! I know it sounds silly and doesn’t look like much by the pictures, but I have been wanting to get this room together for a long time. It is the very first room that meets our guests, and now it is becoming more inviting! almost time to have more visitors 😉
Question for you:
What room do your guests walk into?
Favorite store for home decorations?
A few new things
After the late night with the tooth fairy, Andrew and I were pretty tired this morning. That’s right, Andrew lost his third baby tooth last night.
But of course we were able to make a Target visit, and get way too much stuff we didn’t need 🙂
First, we grabbed thank yous for Andrew’s friends. Aren’t they so cute!
I grabbed this coffee. Different coffee brand, some flavor. It was OK. I’m not sure I will buy it again
NEW VITA TOP FLAVORS!!! I love vita tops and I have never tried these kinds before. Verdict: the banana choco chip are delicious!!!
And cashews. Because I just love them haha
Question for you:
Why is it that when you go into target you always walk out with a million more things than you planned?
Before and After: Mantel
I love “before and after” shots.
From Fall to Christmas, messing w/ contact paper, I even have a previous mantel before and after.
Today’s isn’t such a big deal, but I LOVEEEEE the after.
I have this picture from pinterest (yup. I love it and yet it gets me in trouble haha)
I found these really pretty flowers at Target, and bit the bullet and bought them for the mantel.
BEFORE
AFTER
Question for You:
What is on your mantel?
Do you like having flowers around the house?
Veggie overload
Today started off with getting Andrew to school, and then a much needed nap.
(last night and this morning I had this HORRIBLE headache. For the most part that means Im dehydrated and its time for bed.)
So breakfast was at 10am. (NICCCEE)
egg,PB, banana sandwich
 remember yesterday’s yoga class? Well my shoulder muscles are on FIRE! I don’t have much upper body strength, and can now see how yoga is so worth it! (in many ways)
So no upper body workout today. Instead I went to the gym and did the treadmill intervals for two miles. Then waked a mile at a high incline. Got extremely sweaty! I was going to go to target after, but needed to shower (as a courtesy to the other shoppers haha)
Goodies from target!
 I had a coupon for 12 dozen free eggs, and a dollar off the Light n Fit yogurt.
I also got some Xmas cards (I know Im ahead of the game, but they are really cute!)
 Now I just need a picture of me and Andrew (let me know if you want one! haha)
I also got these awesome pumpkin candles for the mantel!
 My dad also worked on my sidewalk that we started working on FOREVER ago.
 Well we needed to cut some of the stepping stones. But I first had to buy the blade and my dad said it was a lot easier than he thought (YEA!)
 Now we will have to just even them out, and lay the rest of the them. Looks SO much better than when I moved it.
Dinner was pasta, chicken, and every veggie I could find.
 I was craving veggies- can you believe that? Red pepper, carrots, and broccoli. All, I had to add was parmesan cheese. DELICIOUS!
 Question for you:
Do you like veggies or fruit?
Do you ever crave certain foods?
Disaster zone + food blog
I havent done a food blog in FOREVER! So I decided to add the eats to the blog, along with the daily activities
Breakfast: yogurt, cereal, and banana
I than ran to target (twice), home depot, and I distroyed andrews room
Ok first thing first, I went to target and got another shelf to fit andrew books by his desks
Then I realized it was brown and his desk is black- thats a no go. So I went back and got the tan color. (the white wasnt on sale- I mean really target?)
But at least the books fit! now the question is do I spray paint it black?
I then destroyed Andrew’s room. I went through all his clothes, and bought a rod to go length wise in andrews closet.
Basically to fit more clothes!
The finished closet!
Ah. The room looks a million times better.
I had to get everything cleaned up before lunch. Which was boring. Turkey sandwich and a peach
and then a MILLION handfuls of this
I think thats why my stomach was feeling gross for dinner. But andrew asked for toasted ravs, and it was fast and easy.
So toasted ravs it is!
At home depot, I also picked up paint samples….
sooooo I got these becasue Im going to paint the cabinets again. I know. I know. I said I never would.
But they look yellow with the yellow walls and counter top. So stay tuned!
I also got some pretty ripe bananas from my parents, because they know I love to bake!
It was delicious banana bread!
Recipe will be here tomorrow!
After homework, dinner, and banana bread, it was time for andrew’s soccer practice.
I haven’t gone on a run in a  week. I REALLY REALLY didn’t want to.
But I did it. (because of you guys. I wanted to say I did it. not that I was a couch potato)
While he was at practice, I went on a three mile run. It wasn’t too bad. Except dinner was a rock in my stomach. haha
Plan is to run on friday too. The half marathon is coming up soon!
Question for you:
Would you rather cook or bake?
– Id rather bake ANY day
Do you think I should spray paint the cabinet? Yay or Nay?
